Ice Cream Parcel Packs: Taking the Taste Home
Not every ice cream moment happens at our counter. Sometimes the plan is a family night at home, guests arriving after dinner, or children who have been promised a treat all day. That is exactly why we pack our ice cream to go — the same flavours we scoop at the shop, sealed in a tub that travels.
The Packs and the Flavours
Two sizes, priced for taking home:
- Half Litre — Rs 500: right for a small family dessert or a couple of evenings of scoops.
- 1 Litre — Rs 900: the gathering size — better value per scoop, and the one that disappears fastest at daawats.
Both come in the nine flavours from our counter: Strawberry, Pineapple, Chocolate, Pista, Kulfa Badam, Peshawari, Blueberry, Vanilla and Mango — the same ice creams we serve by the scoop at Rs 200. If your household argues about flavours (most do), the honest solution is two half litres of different flavours rather than one litre nobody fully agrees on.
Carrying It Home Without Losing It
- Make it your last stop: pick the pack up on the way home, not at the start of a long round of bazaar errands.
- Keep it out of the sun: in the car, the shaded footwell beats a hot dashboard or a sunny seat every time. On a bike, a bag hung away from the engine side helps.
- Straight into the freezer: do not leave it on the counter "for five minutes" while other things happen — those five minutes are where texture is lost.
Storing and Serving, the Shop Way
- Back of the freezer, lid pressed tight: the back keeps the steadiest cold; a tight lid keeps ice crystals and freezer smells out.
- Never refreeze a melted tub: once ice cream has fully melted and sat warm, refreezing gives you an icy, grainy block. Serve what you need, return the tub quickly.
- Five minutes of patience: bring the tub out about five minutes before serving. Scoops come out clean, and the flavour opens up — rock-hard ice cream tastes of very little.
- Warm the scoop: a spoon or scoop dipped in warm water between servings cuts cleanly instead of tearing.
Serving idea from our own counter culture: scoops of Kulfa Badam or Peshawari after a heavy family dinner need nothing else at all. For children, a half litre of Strawberry or Mango alongside warm gulab jamun is a combination we hear about from customers more than any other.
